  • Loy V. Porterfield, 78, of Hot Springs went to be with his Lord and Saviour on April 20, 2017. Loy was born to the late Milton and Gracie (Johnson) Porterfield on June 8, 1938 in Manning, AR. As a young man Loy served his country in the United States Navy, serving on the USS Kearsarge in the Pacific Theater following the Korean Conflict.  Loy was a devoted member of the Rockport Missionary Baptist Church.  He had a love for being outdoors, hunting, fishing and anything having to do with cars and motorcycles, specifically as a member of the Friendship Riders Motorcycle Club. Loy was a caring and loving, husband, father, grandfather and friend he will be greatly missed.

    Loy is preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and three sisters.

    Loy is survived by his wife of 57 years, Joan Carol Porterfield of Hot Springs; his sons, Thom (Lesli) Porterfield of Las Vegas, NV; Phillip (Tina) Porterfield of Nashville, TN; his daughter, Karen (James) Street of Hot Springs, AR; his brother, Charles (Elouise) Porterfield of Alvin, TX; his sisters, Jessie Ruth Zuber of Malvern; Margaret Ann Johnson of Benton; as well as six grandchildren, Sean Street, Erin Street, Madeline Porterfield, Caroline Porterfield, Dylan Porterfield, Jack Porterfield and many beloved   relatives and friends.

    A visitation will be held from 6-8 PM Sunday, April 23, 2017 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Malvern.  Funeral Services will be held Monday, April 24, 2017 at 10:00 AM in the Atkinson Funeral Home Chapel in Malvern with Bro. Milton “Sonny” Porterfield officiating. Pallbearers will be Loy’s nephews. Interment will be at DeLamar Cemetery.

    I am so sorry for your loss. Loy was a very sweet and caring man. I have such fond memories of him throughout my life. May God comfort you at this time in your lives.

    Growing up as neighbor to Lot I have many find memories of him. I bought a car from him once and I loved that car. I remember Lot driving the old antique car around. Mrs. Porterfield and kids I'm so very sorry for your lost. You are all in my prayers and thoughts. Love you all. Pam Petty

    A wonderful guy, great sense of humor. Enjoyed his company at all the friendship rider events.
